I liked a couple party ideas from their site: A treasure hunt where everything the guests find is donated to a children's hospital. ECHOage sends out an evite which allows the recipients to make an online gift of money. All of the gifts are pooled to purchase one gift, and one donation to a cause for the birthday boy or girl.

The last BlogHer Conference session I went to yesterday, before leaving early to go to a wedding, was about using blogging for Community Assistance. She steered away from using a PayPal button and worked only with donations of supplies and equipment. Deena recommended not using a PayPal button. They took their PayPal button down.

Did you know that according to the 2005 Kintera/Luth Nonprofit Trend Report : "On average, online givers donate in total (both online and offline) more than 50 percent more than those donors who do not give online." They would match donations $1 up to $2,000 I raised for the project. Have different ways for people to support the campaign, not just money. Jen Lemen and Mom2Amara graciously donated t-shirts and I got three business cards from tech companies with an offer of t-shirts. In return, I would write up a case study of what I did.

As I was doing some research on cultivating women donors, I came across this useful data by BlogHer: According to their survey, 41% of women used Facebook to contribute to a community, 33% used Twitter, 32% used Pinterest, and 28% used blogs. 32% of women compared to 25% of men. Like Mother Teresa talked about how America was rich in money, but poor in spirit. The place where we get out bamboo in China, they had floods last year so we started donating 20% of our proceeds back to them so they could rebuild their factories. What I do is, I write for several blogs, as she mentioned. We don't use that much wood.
