These aren't as lame-looking as most of the spam I write about: they use the right logos, fonts, and typefaces. The giveaways are: 1) Hover over the links and see where they point before clicking (that's the best way to prevent phishing attacks and malware infections from spam). 3) I got a dozen of the Amazon spams.

Here's a random selection of strange and/or lame spams I've received recently. This one may not be spam, but I'm not going to click and find out. Text: Dear Manager, We will attend CeMAT ASIA 2012. 25th to 28th 2012. The sender of this email receives compensation. very bottom of this email. vary widely.

This doesn't look remotely like an email from Amazon. Previous incarnations of this spam have led to a Canadian online pharmacy, and the hyperlinks in this one lead to a site in Canada. For your reference, here's a summary of your order: You just canceled order 147-911-9683 placed on May 2, 2012. Lame lame lame. Amazon.com.

I got 8 of these at 2 different email addresses, always a sign of spam. Depart date: 4/5/2012. The pitch is similar to the American Airlines ticket scam but not as well done. Confirmation code: 768404. Check-in online: Online reservation details. Check-in link leads to [link]. Flight 5232. Departure city and time.
