One way to get people to create content for you is through contests. In the nonprofit world we also have contests and at See3 we have become “the contest people&# helping organizations conceive of and execute user generated content contests. The current Heinz contest is a great example.

phenomena of portable content and user generated content is just the transition to something deeper. So, for example, I go to Blockbuster’s site and Facebook knows this and next time I am on Facebook I am getting Blockbuster promotions. You can read more about Facebook’s system here.

and losing control of content. How do we take advantage of user-generated content and user-controlled forums such as MySpace and YouTube without totally losing control of our brand? Some of the info on the site wasn’t right, for example. It’s the magic question. The answer is, very very carefully. Not happening.

Our friend Alia McKee from Sea Change Strategies wrote a blog post about nonprofits using video and gave some great examples. So while we don’t yet have all the metrics we need to show that video will actually improve/increase fundraising online, we know that this is the content people are gravitating towards.

For example, someone surfing my site from the same IP address (a unique number that corresponds to the access point of the Internet) who accesses specific pages (based on the logs) over a contiguous period of time represents a visit. Here’s the issue: On many new website pages, you can see lots of content without reloading the page.
