When friends donate to the Birthday Cause , they are able to write a message that appears on my Facebook Wall.

I was able to raise $2,500 in 90 minutes at Gnomedex. Right before Thanksgiving , the TweetsGiving effort and Avi Kaplan helped Epic Change raise over $10,000 in 48 hours to build a classroom in Tanzania. As Lucy Bernholz notes, this might be one more example of fundraising on Twitter is less marginal and moving to the middle.

A community group worked hard to get her placed on the historic register and raise money to restore her to her mid-century glory. My kids have posed for photos in t-shirts , emptied their piggy banks , helped me make fundraising videos , contributed clothing or other items to drives at school, and have attended lots of fund raising events.

Before I go further, I have thank everyone for the early birthday present - a donation to the Sharing Foundation. In less than 24 hours, I've raised $806 to help children in Cambodia using a new feature in Facebook Causes. It lets you ask your friends for donations instead of presents and makes it easy to thank them.

My kids have posed for photos in t-shirts , emptied their piggy banks , helped me make fundraising videos , contributed clothing or other items to drives at school, and have attended lots of fund raising events.

Oxfam America won the “Advocacy Campaign” prize for their campaign to persuade Starbucks to let Ethiopia use the trademarked phrase “Ethiopian Coffee” in selling their own coffee. The campaign attracted 96,000 participants, and Starbucks did eventually change their policy, thereby benefiting poor farmers in Ethiopia.
