Abed has accomplished an incredible amount since founding BRAC more than 30 years ago, but he is charging forward with expansion both inside and outside of Bangladesh.

Conversation Three When I got back late to the hotel and stopped by the bar, I found the founders of Waste Concern of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Maqsood Sinha and Iftekhar Enayetullah getting a late dinner of sandwiches. They have expanded from Dhaka to at least ten cities, and are now wrestling with the right way to expand outside of Bangladesh.

When I first met them several years ago, Waste Concern was processing organic waste from Dhaka into fertilizer, and generating jobs for the poor. Plus, they are expanding into other areas of sustainability work, such as solar powered water pumps in rural Bangladesh. In a great way!
