One of my blog readers, Sarah Mowry, Outreach Director for the Deschutes Land Trust pointed me to Nature Conservancy’s Instagram contest , an image scavenger hunt. How much good will is generated by those contributed and by the winners of the contest whose works will be posted on the Nature Conservancy’s FB and Tumblr.

I was in DC last week with the famous Anna Richter getting our 11NTC ducks in a row. Say no more.

If you don’t know about Flickr , it’s a popular photo sharing site that can be used by nonprofits. So what can nonprofits do with Flickr? It gives you search engine mojo – because all the Flickr goodness is indexed heavily. You can see the Humane Society Seal Photo caption contest here.

Flickr Photo: licolnian Direct mail has been, and still is, the cornerstone of nonprofit fundraising. Online fundraising, something I spend a large percentage of my work week thinking about, accounted for just 2% of total fundraising in 2008. But direct mail has one big problem: it's not so good for trees.

It may be easy for big groups, with photogenic interests -- like the National Wildlife Federation's Wildlife Habitat program or The Nature Conservancy's nature picture contest -- to use something like Flickr, but you're too small? Flickr makes it easy to get started! Balderdash! Or the Women's Museum.
