People have been silenced throughout time by media outlets, governments and authority figures who strive to keep minorities and protestors at bay. Social media may be changing that across the globe. Women in Iran and protestors on Wall Street think so. But she did have social media outlets like Twitter and YouTube.

In Iran we’ve seen it used to get out information and resist censorship but have also seen it used by the government to alter a mobile phone system and monitoring calls.
