When a disaster strikes, individuals, communities, philanthropy, and entire nations often rise to the occasion, providing relief and humanitarian aid. In 2003, responses to devastating fires around San Diego, California, focused almost entirely on emergency aid, recovery, and rebuilding. That is no longer the case.

In fact, a recent survey for the Chronicle of Philanthropy and Association of Fundraising Professionals revealed some similarly concerning findings, such as: 51% of fundraisers said they will leave their current nonprofit within the next two years. Donor-Advised Funds. 30% said they planned to leave fundraising altogether.
