The theme for the training was “ Data, Data.” Using Google Hangout, you can switch between slides and camera, although when you are in slide mode, you can’t see the remote participants. The Google Hangout was projected on the screen. kanter we have wifi connection interuption here.

Across two days full of interactive sessions, workshops, and hands-on training, I had the chance to meet members of my Chicago Ohana Salesforce group and connect with new people with similar passions, challenges, and solutions to share. It was also the first in-person event I’ve had a chance to attend in two years.

The physical space is an open lab space, with lots of white boards, fast wifi, turkish coffee, and lots of geeks sitting on bean bag chairs or at tables with laptops on their laps coding and hacking on their projects. It is also fun to re-mix presentations for an audience outside of the US. Rami Al-Karmi, N2V Lab.

Students get a minute to think about the question on their own and then answer it using a mobile device that sends their answers to Mazur’s laptop. It’s more fun to teach this way and more fun to learn this. Then he asks one of the multiple-choice questions. That’s the theory at least. Begin Connections.

Both conference marked the end of an 18-month capacity building program that trained more than 220 NGOs in Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia on how to use social media effectively to advance civil society goals. With International trainings, it is always fun to have participants share a song or dance from one’s home country.
