One of my blog readers, Sarah Mowry, Outreach Director for the Deschutes Land Trust pointed me to Nature Conservancy’s Instagram contest , an image scavenger hunt. How much good will is generated by those contributed and by the winners of the contest whose works will be posted on the Nature Conservancy’s FB and Tumblr.

Zeega is a content curation tool that lets you collect video clips, sound bites, and images from sites with public media (like Flickr, YouTube, Dropbox, and so on). Flickr Photo by Sugarpond. He wanted to raise some money to help the local orchestra and test some ideas. Since this was an experiment to test social networking, I did not send an appeal to friends and family in the way people do when they raise funds for a run or walk, or want you to vote for a particular contest.

test and teweak. but didn’t stop doing photo contests; instead they adapted. next, with LOLseals campaign, they made it as easy as possible for people to participate, used the Flickr API to allow people to upload from their website instead of going to Flickr, etc. Beth’s learning process: document on the fly.
Museum 2.0

On June 4, we opened The Tech Virtual Test Zone , a new 2000 sq ft gallery at The Tech Museum of Innovation featuring exhibits on the theme of art, film, and music that were originally developed in Second Life by a community of creative amateurs. However, the contest also prevented us from legitimately fostering collaboration.
