There have now been a couple comments on this blog to the effect of: "Visitors already create content in museums through their thoughts and social interactions." One person commented that the more interesting question is not how we build a platform for visitor content creation but how we facilitate sharing of that content. Great point.

It's a warning sign when community members make comments like , "it was only boundless encouragement from Avi (Nina's Second Life avatar) that prevented me from giving up more than once." I was a good community manager, but the system we set up to perform that management and cultivate the community was ill-considered.
