After several months of recovery and spending time reflecting on my unhealthy relationship with work, I decided to enroll in a doctoral program at The University of Pennsylvania. So, what did these resilient role models have in common? I wanted to understand one big question – why do some people get burned out and others do not?

I have worked for nonprofit organizations for most of my professional life, and I have never been a major gift officer. It was no great leap for me to move into my role as Director, Stewardship Communications, a job that requires working with major gift officers to ensure the quality and timeliness of their donor correspondence. .
