Digg, the once beloved link-sharing site that power users were able to game has been dying a slow death over the past couple of years. Since January of 2011 Digg’s unique web visits have declined by more than 50% and gone from 9.4M Sites like Reddit.com have clearly benefitted from Digg’s demise.

Perhaps it inspired this visualization of the Digg Community activity) The conversation map is a living, breathing representation of Social Media and will evolve as services and conversation channels emerge, fuse, and dissipate. I'm seeing a remix of the Social Media Game cards.

Luckily, my colleague Francesco has remixed the game for fundraising, but it is in Italian! It's so cool that the cards have OKNO and Segnalo - the Italian versions of Digg and Del.icio.us. The other remix challenge is take the Social Media and remix for fundraising 2.0. cards and presentation ). I wonder what they translate into?

How about Digg ? I thought one organization I was working with was getting great traffic from Digg, in part due to highly placed users who seemed to really like our stuff. But then we were approached by a high profile Digg user and asked to work out a reward for future links (i.e. he wanted to get paid for linking to us).
