Today, at 14:00 hours (local time), thousands of people with diabetes will test their blood sugar, do 14 minutes of exercise, test again and share their results on TuDiabetes or on Twitter. He is using a tool called " Twibbon " that makes it easy for people to change their avatar to incorporate a visual for a particular cause.

But there is also a trust issue too -- particularly if you don't know all the avatars in real life. We try and duplicate offline experiences (be they useful or not) and not really take advantage of the medium. It is the masterful use of a shared white board to move people from being consumers of a meeting to being active participants.
