As video content on social media continues to reign supreme and audio-only content, spurred on by Twitter Spaces and Clubhouse, grows, it’s important for nonprofits to prioritize accessibility when publishing content online. We’ve noticed a common practice on TikTok: referring to open captions as “CC” or “closed captions,” which is incorrect.

Last year, I did a workshop at a conference for professionals who do audio description, a service that makes visual images of theatre, television, movies, and other art forms accessible to people are who blind or have low vision. It is a work in process and as a trainer you have to be open to learning and adapting.

Lack of technical skills or software tools in cutting, splicing, fading the audio and weaving it with the video track. Technique: -add music to opening title and ending title -trim the music to fit the opening/ending title - and make sure it ends on a resolved cadence -fade in and fade out.
