My style of teaching is participatory; I don’t lecture with PPT endlessly and involve the audience. They have built an authentic community through cultivated conversations and events designed to build trust, deepen relationships and set the stage for collective impact.

The Craigslist Foundation's annual Nonprofit Bootcamp was a fantastc one-day conference, chalk full of workshops on topics ranging from marketing advice (PPT 10.1MB) to advanced ideas about the future of technology (PPT 1.7MB) for nonprofits, which featured our very own co-CEO, Marnie Webb.

Update: Nancy reports that she didn't wear the purple PJs and here PPT slides can be found here. There was a tip in the comments on how to compress PPT slides. All we need are the PowerPoint slides to complete our virtual experience. I think she is wearing her purple pajamas, but not sure. Here's Nick Noake's remix.

If you are using PPT, it is helpful to include your bullet points in the notes sections ahead time. Here is what they shared: 1.) Connect with them ahead of time. This helps the interpreters prep. When on site, make sure you introduce yourself and ask for any clarifications of language or ideas.

When you want to acquire a new skill or apply some new knowledge, do you learn by passively sitting and listening to an expert lecture for 90 minutes without a break and 150 PPT slides? What do you actually retain? And, what do you actually apply?

They are nowhere near as fully fucntioning as the counterparts, but these apps get the job done, and allow you to send.doc,ppt, and.xls versions to your colleagues. These are your PowerPoint, Word, and Excel-like apps. Those are the essentials. But if you also want a little fun, I highly recommend Words with Friends.

Here’s just a few of the features: Instant access; no download required. Webcam sharing (multiple users). Sharing of specific applications (not just full screen).

Then the PPT gets turned off. Then the PPT gets turned off. I also love the translation on the site (Japanese for "the sound of conversation.") If you are really and truly having a meeting to discuss something, then the Pecha Kucha approach is brilliant. 20 slides, 20 seconds each. 20 slides, 20 seconds each.

SlideShare takes you ppt file, converts it to flash, then makes in embeddable on your site for viewing. Here are my slides from one of my Dreamforce sessions: Cool tidbit–the files are hosted on Amazon’s S3 service.

Another story is about the new world of conversation, which I call " Cell Phones on the Green " (PPT): I was walking across the green in the center of the Dartmouth campus one afternoon, and noticed two coeds approaching each other talking on cell phones. It became obvious as they got closer that they were talking to each other.

I joined coworkers in our “War Room” (conference room) to view the PPT on our large plasma screen (ASAE chose not to use the webinar portion), interact with the live chat, listen to the audio on the conference phone and talk with one another during the presentation. Will this change conferences? …
