Benetech got a call recently from an excited Bookshare member who had been waiting to download our new Read2Go accessible e-book application for Apple devices. Graduate student Maria Georgakarakou, who is blind, gave us a rave review for the Read2Go app which allows those with print disabilities to listen to books in the DAISY audio format.

An effective nonprofit video can be as simple as a Flickr photo stream set to an audio track or a really great interview. Videos should be clear to understand if employing dialogue or music. Numerous applications exist, many of them free and with very simple editing capabilities, to upload smartphone videos to the Internet.

Both programs are lighter editions of Photoshop, Adobe's popular photo-editing application, and Premiere Pro, its robust video-editing application. The Elements applications are simpler alternatives to Photoshop and Premiere Pro that share many of the features of the larger products. Is It Right for My Organization?

Podcasting is formally defined as the act of distributing syndicated audio content online via RSS to listeners who use software or a hardware device to receive updates. No reason to be afraid: the important part of this definition is that the audio content is syndicated. The bit rate determines the quality of the audio.

15 per person/minute for audio is very tough to swallow. Even the unlimited plans (which start at $50/month, or possibly discounted) have pricing for audio, which I hadn’ t realized. It was this audio pricing that drove a stake in the heart of my ReadyTalk plan. It does, apparently, do audio via VOIP. It’s $.24

iPod listeners -- Comcast could slow access to iTunes, steering you to a higher-priced music service that paid for the privilege. Work-at-home parents -- Connecting to your office could take longer if you don't purchase your carrier's preferred applications. Sending family photos and videos could slow to a crawl.
