We love the New York Public Library’s Anti-Proms , which provide an alternative, safe space regardless of sexuality, gender identity, and any other reason for NYC teens. Plan ahead and recruit some Instagram influencers to support the cause. Bonus points if the artist does an entire custom flash related to your cause.

The fact is that the more people are exposed to stories around a cause and the ideas behind theories of change, the more likely that change will be effected or you'll influence the people who can help create impact. But there's a difference in how you influence previously disengaged participants vs. active participants.

They closed for capricious financial reasons, and they left disappointed artists and participants in their wake. What''s the alternative to this waste? Museum of Art and History Unusual Projects and Influences business models' Could each have offered MORE community value? Absolutely. Forget life support.

To construct the video, artist Chris Milk assembled images and footage of Johnny Cash in a sequence along with the song. The result is a beautiful animated video that composites together alternative frames created by participants all over the world. That's hardly revolutionary. The site gives credit to contributors.

It's my "artistic rendering" of one of the most inspirational participatory projects I know of--the Bibliotheek Haarlem Oost book drops. There was an alternative system next to the tagging system to improve the flow, but people did not want to be rude and waited patiently on their turn- so the alternative did not work.
