I learned this technique from Allen Gunn from Aspiration over ten years ago at 2007 Penguin Day. Others have also documented and used the technique or taught others how to do it.

Going beyond content delivery, I also use a lot of participatory and hands-on learning techniques to help students gain a deeper understanding. Classroom style with desks puts a barrier between the students and the instruction, especially when people are using laptops or tablets to take notes.

In 2009 , students built a participatory exhibit from scratch. Thirteen students produced three projects that layered participatory activities onto an exhibition of artwork from the permanent collection of the Henry Art Gallery. It's also worth noting that the facilitation supported thoughtful, on-topic engagement.
