Stacy Surla invited me to participate remotely at the IA Summit taking place this weekend in Las Vegas on a panel about IA in Second Life and informal poster session to introduce Second Life to IA folks. I had skype with a video camera and Second Life application opened (which kept crashing my computer.) It was Peter Morville !

The live video feed was being streamed from the Netsquared gathering in San Francisco happening at the same time as the virtual gatherng in Second Life. Jeska Linden , Community Manager for Linden Labs, has the mike in her hand, while her avatar is behind the podium in Second Life. I also turned off my audio.

FaceTime allows two iPhone -- and soon, next-generation iPad and iPod Touch -- users to have a streaming video and audio conversation while both are connected to a wireless network. Look for mobile providers to combine these ideas to enable a virtual meeting environment with video, audio, whiteboard, and presentations from multiple attendees.

That's my avatar, I'm live blogging from Second Life. From my office in the Boston, I teleported myself into the Virtual World of Second Life and headed straight for the New Media Consortium virtual campus where I joined about 65 other avatars representing educators from all over the world (even Austrailia where it was 3:00 a.m.
