Even free apps like FourSquare reward checking in to locations with badges and titles like “Mayor”. Even if the benefits aren’t tangible, such as those badges you earn in FourSquare, I’m still drawn to do my best to earn them because it’s fun. Do those badges mean anything? For example, a museum could create a fun treasure hunt by having people check at specific galleries or works of art. So, instead of reading trashy magazines, I got a chance to have a great conversation with some colleagues. Harvard University did an experiment with having students use it to explore the campus.

For example, if you join a modern art museum, there is a good chance you won’t have to pay admission to other modern art museums. Creative stuff: Things unique to your organization including the ability to create art, music, poetry, dance, etc. A digital member badge that can be shared on social media. It was super cool.
