We asked GreenTech volunteer Michael Hodges to sign up and try out different things in Second Life like find the Nonprofit Commons Island and befriend 'avatars' there.

On June 4, we opened The Tech Virtual Test Zone , a new 2000 sq ft gallery at The Tech Museum of Innovation featuring exhibits on the theme of art, film, and music that were originally developed in Second Life by a community of creative amateurs. On many levels, The Tech Virtual experiment was a success.

Many of us still travel a lot to attend meetings, but we can be certain that rising fuel prices are also a fact of life. The cost of travel is becoming more expensive.

But last week, I took a new job with The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, working on a very different kind of project involving collaborative distributed exhibit design. So where visions of Flash games used to dance in my head, I’m now starting to fantasize about team-building, inclusion, and, of all things, Second Life.
