From a museum perspective, I think there's a lot to learn from these venues' business models, approach to collecting and exhibiting work, and connection with their audiences. The library is run in the lobby of a theater company by a group of volunteers led by Nell Taylor. The doors of SLAM are never closed.

As a nonprofit running a peer-to-peer campaign, I recommend reaching out to your most loyal and engaged supporters which could be your major donors, volunteers, board members, or staff.

At the tiny science center, I got to do everything from leading programs to building exhibits to managing volunteers to cleaning snot off of plexiglass. At the big one, I worked on a small project with teens to design science exhibits for community centers in their own neighborhoods. You have to tell them what you want.
