According to ABC news : According to the trend-tracking website Know Your Meme , the cartoon fad started with Facebook users in Greece and Cyprus in mid-November. There has to be something going on that’s getting everyone excited enough to search for a cartoon character and change their picture.

Perhaps they can not get a Facebook ad budget approved or they are simply stuck in the outdated “social media is free” meme. According to the Global Trends in Giving Report , 32% of online donors gave through Facebook Charitable Giving Tools in 2020. either way, Facebook organic reach is estimated to be an abysmal 2%.
