I believe it is a combination of copyright exceptions and business model innovations. For the content of books, this flexibility is expressed in ideas like public domain, when the copyright owned by the author or publisher ends at some point. I needed help with business negotiations and software licensing and Gerry jumped in teaching me everything I know about doing business. Most importantly, he walked me through how to frame the goal of any agreement with another organization, and to think through scenarios of how it might go sour. He took the idea one step further.

The latest session of the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) just concluded last week. We did not look at this as legal experts, but rather as organizations that are dedicated to serving people with disabilities.
