The app was a finalist in Microsoft's 2011 Imagine Cup, a student technology competition. Our Time (Facebook) is a nonprofit dedicated to youth empowerment through the voting process. The iPad app provides free videos to K-12 students on various topics, including math, science, finance, and history. Additional Resources.

I realized, in thinking about all of this, that the model of technology support that makes the most sense to me is to think of it similarly as a teacher-student relationship. Certainly, if you are a technology provider that values empowerment of your clients, this is probably a good model to consider. Second, Empowerment.

Why do Imagine Cup students develop more field-based IT innovation in 9 months than nonprofits in 5 years? Dahna Goldstein, PhilanTech, talked about reasons why tech changes fail: no leader/champion, no direction from the top, no context, lack of communication/poor communication and lack of involvement/empowerment. So what can we do?
