Last month, the Japan earthquake and tsunami occurred on March 11th 2011, the first day of the conference. SXSWcares , co-branded as SXSW4Japan, was a campaign that rallied the SXSW community to raise awareness and harness support for disaster relief. What you will change the next time? Flickr photo: Logan was his name-o It's been just a few hours since one of the largest recorded earthquakes and subsequent tsunami hit off the coast of Japan. Our hearts go out to the people of Japan. Just a few short years ago, technology in disaster response was a different animal all together.

Isn’t it amazing how brave some folks become in the face of disaster? I heard the same comparison about the disaster in Japan. Some of those same Americans are still alive today and making donations to help the Japanese people in this terrible disaster they are experiencing. How would that change things?
