When a participatory activity is designed without a goal in mind, you end up with a bunch of undervalued stuff and nowhere to put it. I also learned that the best money in museums for someone who's starting out is in art modeling. I survived the first half of 2003 financially on art modeling and poetry gigs. Articulate what you can do for your organization, not what you can do generally. It was like getting paid to process the day in a lovely setting.
