We cannot interface with other desired applications. Time spent manually entering or importing or synchronizing or deduping data that could be collected through integrated systems. If any of you have come up a generally applicable formula for calculating the return on investment from a donor database I’d love to see it!

API stands for Application Program Interface, and has become known for, in large part, facilitating the Web 2.0 Focus on the word “interface”, which means facilitating communication between two different applications. Think of APIs as connecting plugs between applications.

These standards are a necessary step toward implementation, and make us, as implementers, more confident that we’ll see greater application in the next three years or so.
