But it is useful to be aware of what’s happening on the bleeding edge, because at some point (probably soon) that stuff is going to be pretty standard. As a nonprofit worker, I don’t think that being an expert on the bleeding edge is important because I’m unlikely to be using most of those technologies, anyhow.

I’ll be migrating my main consulting site over to it quite soon. But at least the first technical hurdle to jump over is a small one. Joomla is growing fast. They just released version 1.5, which, I must say, rocks. They have an amazing user community, and there are places to get amazing themes.
