Segmentation is essentially a methodology by which we distribute the constituents we want to communicate with into various buckets or groupings. We are breaking the audience and database into manageable groups for the purpose of communicating with them. It will also help to prevent people from marking you as Spam.

During the Webinar, I polled the group’s general approach. The Google Hangout (Group video chat) has some potential to be useful for learning. The privacy features allows organizations to have conversations with specific groups of people. I am avoiding spamming all three networks with cut and paste streams.

A question that everyone asks - "When should my group set up a Fan Page versus a Facebook Group? Best Answer yet: Set up a Facebook FanPage as your main presence or outpost and use a group for more adhoc, smaller organizing. It's intended to prevent spam. Groups are good for small scale organizing.

That’s equivalent to sending an email to your supporters and 98% of your emails going to spam folders. Facebook has a well-known pattern of testing new fundraising tools with a small, select group of nonprofits and then expanding them to all nonprofits. either way, Facebook organic reach is estimated to be an abysmal 2%.
