If you're a parent, the local PTA may have ways for you to get involved as well. Organizations like these teach everything from sports, to science, to the arts, to girl empowerment.

I've now documented women's lives in 40 countries, over the past 10 or 12 years, and everywhere I went, I found women who were helping each other, local women. Britt Bravo: In so many of the groups you profiled, the women were using the arts for education, empowerment, or healing. Right at the end of that period, I also was teaching.
