The fundraising goal for Give to the Max Day is to get 35,000 people to support their favorite regional charity, raising more than $3 million in donations and grants in just 24 hours! I said that I wished contest designers would take a Hippocratic Oath to do no harm to nonprofits! Designate a cheer leader.

Certainly, giving from individuals won't be enough to fix the economy and provide the resources that charities need to deliver important services in hard economic times. But donating money to a charity, even a small amount (or in-kind items ) can certainly help with part of the need and raise awareness in others. And, yes they did !

She was the recent winner of my son's Green Geek Charity Contest and we contributed a small amount to the charity of her choice, SOS Children's Villages. Reports suggest 15,000 are homeless because of the storm, and 22 dead. If you read Joan's blog or Foko, you will learn that Madagascar is a very poor country.

John Center for Homeless Men recently held their virtual house parties fundraiser, which was a huge success! This can be trickier for an event like a charity fashion show. By knowing (or being able to make an educated guess on) where your guests will be participating, it makes it a little easier to unify the experience.

John Center for Homeless Men recently did their own virtual house party peer-to-peer event called Raisin’ the Rent , with some of their participants raising over $10,000 in their house party. For instance, the Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity hosted a wildly successful Gingerbread Home Build contest, bringing in 132% over their goal.
