My style of teaching is participatory; I don’t lecture with PPT endlessly and involve the audience. I believe that interactive training makes for better learning and there is research to back that up. This includes integrating moving around into small groups or share pairs as well as standing & stretching.

Guidestar has multiple office locations, so this session was done as a virtual meeting using a platform and apps that offered features like chat, desktop sharing, polling, white board, sticky notes, and audio and video conferencing. Two years ago, Bev Clark, the co-founder of Kubatana.net , was awarded a large grant in the Knight News Challenge for Freedom Fone, an open-source software platform for distributing news and information through interactive voice response (IVR) technology. . Many of the audio responses were later rebroadcast on the program. .

I’ve long admired Improv Everywhere , the NYC-based participatory public art group. I particularly like the MP3 experiments , events at which Improv Everywhere distribute an audio file to people for free as a podcast. We want our cake (exciting social interactions) but aren't willing to overly prime visitors.
