Technology currently serves privileged groups through tools that provide access to education, literacy, health, and justice. The application allows any user to send information—including photos, videos, audio, or text—simply and securely to a Martus account. But what about everybody else?

Of course, accessibility is right up Benetech’s alley and the focus of our Literacy program. These will enable educators to easily assign accessible books to students, and allow students to access these materials – available in mp3 and DAISY audio – on multiple devices of their choosing, whether at home, on the move, or at school.

WIPO has a mandate from its member states, and is working to address the need to change laws and get more accessible books flowing. Even though Benetech doesn’t have donor funding for this, our VP of Global Literacy, Betsy Beaumon, and I thought it would be worthwhile to attend this meeting.

Change the music or change the transitions so they better match. The point that blogging builds literacy - you show me a bunch of photos of kids at computers and a screenshot of the Starbucks campaign. What are you trying say about the connection between blogging and literacy? The visuals are not reinforcing the idea.
