I've been in Washington, DC for the Network Effectiveness and Social Media Strategy Map working session for Packard Foundation Grantees convened by Monitor Institute. This is a post to help me identify what I don't know about social network analysis and mapping tools with the hope that you'll fill in the gaps in the comments.

It found that if they needed help and couldn’t reach 9-1-1, one in five would try to contact responders through a digital means such as e-mail, websites or social media. The first example of direct content is the use of Wikipedia during the 7/7 bombings in London. Another example of indirect content is that of social networks.

You'll also need to search on keywords or phrases that might uncover a client need or perception. To figure out your keywords, do a little brainstorming offline and then maybe use some online keyword tools. There are many other readers - here's a comparison of features from Wikipedia. Social networks. Google Reader.

Collective action can take the form of signing online petitions, fundraising, tele-calling, or organizing an offline protest or event. It is also important to bridge online conversations into mainstream media buzz and online engagement into offline action. The Third C: Community.

This resulted in us creating a “sneaker-net” approach to providing basic asynchronous ICT services to rural villages: a complete offline Wikipedia that fit on a CD-ROM, and severely restricted bandwidth throttling to allow community radios to access the Internet (via prepaid RBGAN) for $2-3 a day. . Voice remains the killer app.

The first time open-ended, playful like being on a social network. He pointed to the Japanese wikipedia page noting that in Japan, the cultural norm is for the group to discuss the page in the discussion area before developing the content together. Doing the exercise two times gave a sense of confidence the second we did it.
