We raised $6,158 from 157 donors! Last year, the Sharing Foundation's sewing school, a vocational training program, made over 1250 uniform sets and donated them to needy children in Roteang Village, to the Street Children's Assistance NGO, and to a poor government orphanage. In total, have raised over $220,000 since November, 2006.

Anyone with a smartphone, passion for a cause and few hundred followers can raise awareness, mobilize support around an issue, and raise money from friends and family, and are already doing so.

I’ve just spent the last couple of days in Nairobi, Kenya because I’m a board member of an NGO based here, Ushahidi , an organization that builds tools for democratizing information and increasing transparency.
