Growing Pains Founded in 1926, AbilityFirst (formerly known as the Crippled Children’s Society of Southern California or CCS) was created to help children with polio and other physical disabilities, and I was hired in 1998 to turn around this disability service organization. Finally, the board began doing a good job of policing itself.
