She got me started thinking along this line at a networks meeting where she was encouraging the branding of issues, instead of specific organizations. Its fun to look at the petition and see people signed up from Djibouti to Brazil There is a cell phone component to the campaign that has caused it to really take off in South Africa.

I came away with a much better understanding of the issues they are exploring and certainly did my part to articulate why I support the positions we have. The most interesting part of the conversation was around what I call the “dueling moral high grounds” issue: authors rights and the rights of people with disabilities. copyright law.

About five years ago, Brazil violated American intellectual property agreements by producing an AIDS drug for a fraction of the cost of the American company who developed it. The Brazilian government distributed this drug to each of their 203,000 AIDS patients free of charge. He is also a professor at Stanford Law School.
