They organized VRM Days, a week-long unconference to get techies, venture capitalists, and innovators involved in the project. In order for VRM to catch on among techies, nonprofits, and other potential advocates, it needs to be accessible, organized, and simply defined. Even so, something about VRM still doesn't click for me.

On 8.16.08, the Museum of Art and History (Santa Cruz, CA) hosted FreelanceCamp, a free unconference that brought 150 designers and techies from the south bay area together to talk shop. I was at the last of these three events--the unconference in Santa Cruz. Look at the number of views (how many times each has been accessed).

CityCamp was an "unconference," meaning that the agenda was defined by the participants, who pitched and voted on session ideas. As a librarian, I am philosophically (some might even say rabidly) in support of free and open access to information. This inclusive spirit was also reflected in the structure of the event itself.
