Flickr Photo Birthday Remix Contest. I set up a flickr group, uploaded some instructions and some photos from the past half-century, and invited people to celebrate. The winner would receive $50 to their favorite cause or charity. Ultimately, 22 remix photos were posted, slightly less than half of the people who joined.

The idea was to embed the functions of existing social sites like Meetup , Flickr , and del.icio.us. You had to say something on the blog, or post a photo on Flickr, or organize a Meetup.

For my 50th birthday, I held a 50th Birthday Card Flickr Photo Remix Party Well, a few weeks ago, I read a blog post by Amy Sample Ward about Birthday Causes, This new feature lets individuals on Facebook create a birthday fundraising campaign as part of a Cause. Certainly, giving from individuals won't be enough to fix the economy and provide the resources that charities need to deliver important services in hard economic times. But donating money to a charity, even a small amount (or in-kind items ) can certainly help with part of the need and raise awareness in others. And, yes they did !
