Your recording booth asks participants for audio stories plus photos of themselves with their objects. The proposal to Metlife was all video. We came up with a system that was much more structured and is based on audio, not video. After you record your audio, you get to take the photos and give your story a six-word title.

The 182-page book includes detailed descriptions of projects, budgets, and decision-making processes, along with extensive interviews with artists, curators, and museum staff of all stripes. It would have been more like those audio tours, and it’s not about that. The book is fascinating on multiple levels. Mark: Right. I know I did.
