Considering our team is obsessed with all that is NOLA, we thought we'd share some favorite local spots to eat, drink, party, and enjoy the sights while visiting for the Nonprofit Technology Conference. Anyone briefly strolling through this park will likely hear the sound of a brass band and see local artists scattered along the sidewalk.

She is a fabulous and thoughtful artist. Two weeks ago, we inaugurated a Creativity Lounge on the third floor of our museum. It's a little living room in a lobby area that invites people to lounge on comfortable chairs, leaf through magazines and books related to art and Santa Cruz history, and generally hang out.

“Ultimately, this year-long celebration will illuminate everyone to the importance of after-school programming and the success of Lighthouse for the past 25 years,” Pete Allman, the co-founder and board president, said in an interview with L Magazine. Designs include starry night, an owl and a giant metallic hand holding a lightbulb.

Many of us are familiar with local businesses sponsoring local sports teams. Sometimes a nonprofit has access to world-class chefs, celebrities, artists, or architects or well-known lawmakers.

I was fascinated by the project’s innovative approach to collecting, sharing, and connecting people through locally-produced media. We have neighborhood newspapers, internationally-renowned magazines of political commentary, and three View-Master reels of Chicago hot dog stands, neon signs, and motor inns, respectively.
