Stacy Surla invited me to participate remotely at the IA Summit taking place this weekend in Las Vegas on a panel about IA in Second Life and informal poster session to introduce Second Life to IA folks. I had skype with a video camera and Second Life application opened (which kept crashing my computer.)

The 3D space where this virtual symposium will take place is a private version of the Second Life platform that Linden Labs and NMC have created, called the Hakone Project. Scott knows his team’s strength is in telling the story and making it easy for others to raise the money. Wait a minute! Isn’t that scandalous?

the Exploratorium did something really big for the August 1 eclipse and they are all over Second Life (source: Technorati ). The majority of blog traffic mentioning the Exploratorium in the last month has focused on their coverage of the eclipse and a variety of Second Life initiatives. How can you create the community?

Tim says MySpace is not good for fundraising, although we have seen some examples of orgs running successful fundraising campaigns, such as Dollars for Darfur. Oxfam ran a campaign against Starbucks with a video being crucial to the resulting success. On Second Life : Tim and Carie both say stay away.
