We got a chance to find out when we had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from Turkey, courtesy of the World Affairs Council’s International Visitor Leadership Program. The delegation included representatives from women’s rights foundations, a medical doctor and lecturer, a university vice-chancellor, and the head of the Women’s Status Unit of the Istanbul Governor’s Human Rights Department. whew I can think of a few I’d like answered…&# But, before I could come up with a question about life, the universe, and everything, he was already off the phone, answer in hand. Since it was Thanksgiving, the evening called for at least a fancy dinner; if not turkey, then it would have to be duck (an easy call in Eastern Europe). I had duck, in lieu of turkey. A Thanksgiving Tale from the Wild Wild East.
