From a museum perspective, I think there's a lot to learn from these venues' business models, approach to collecting and exhibiting work, and connection with their audiences. This week marks one month of live activity for the Tech Virtual Museum Workshop , a collaborative, online platform for exhibit development. But museum folks, no matter how much we want to collaborate, don't move quickly. A month ago, I invited you to join this project. Now, a month tired-er, I still want to invite you.

It takes the kind of risks that a university art gallery should take. Every other year, they convene TUPAC, a group of 35 outside advisors, including teens, college students, Temple University professors, artists, philanthropists, and community leaders. Some students folding clothes. Artsy journals.

That means we collect university press, handmade artist books, zines made by sixth graders, poetry chapbooks from big names published in tiny local presses, and self-published poetry chapbooks sold for a dollar on the street. Some of the new volunteers are high school students, others are college professors. Geography is fluid, though.
