My last stop in New Delhi was to visit the American India Foundation, which is the largest Silicon Valley/India foundation. This school is run by an NGO (a nonprofit) and provides free education to children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. The one I was most interested in is the Digital Equalizer Program.

Starting a monthly giving program is a great use of your time because monthly donors are the lifeblood of a small nonprofit – bringing in sustainable revenue and creating a safety net of loyal supporters. . Technology currently serves privileged groups through tools that provide access to education, literacy, health, and justice. If your nonprofit is seeking funding, it’s critical to identify the foundations whose interests and funding priorities align with your own. Literacy, particularly from birth through 3rd grade, is their primary focus because reading skills form the foundation for all childhood learning. Areas served: US, India, South Africa.

In fact, we’re doing so well in that respect that I get to engage more and more in new opportunities to advance our nonprofit mission—but less in writing my updates. We’re going to demonstrate what this could look like by piloting Bookshare International at scale in India. The Treaty was signed on the spot by over 50 countries.

We get a huge amount of pro bono assistance from the legal profession, both because of our social impact as a nonprofit, and because of the challenging and interesting issues we tackle. We’re not an advocacy organization, but our technical insights are in great demand from advocates. when we bring them to developing world countries.
