With thousands dead and more now homeless as a result of these earthquakes, it’s imperative that relief organizations mobilize quickly to help stabilize the situation in Turkey and Syria. The Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey has an emergency fund established to help the people of Turkey and Syria as well.

We turned on CNN and watched together as scenes from New Jersey and New York flashed across the screen. The homeless population in the city doubled to 80,000. This kind of resilience for absorbing and reacting to disruption is as important for individuals as it is for cities and communities.
