It all started twenty years ago when esteemed members of the Lincoln chapter of the American Marketing Association created a community project in 2001. The association offered a half-day seminar, “Marketing 101”, to nonprofit groups throughout the state of Nebraska. Sadly, John Haydon passed away in 2020 from cancer.

Very interesting to see the American Cancer Society on the list as its budget - according to a 2005 annual report linked on their Guidestar Profile is well over $10 million). What can Pepsi learn so its contest can truly make a difference in local communities, help them sell more soda, and avoid having its brand get tarnished.

A great example of this is at a local university here in Tampa — The University of South Florida. Moffitt Cancer Center is a nonprofit research center located on USF’s campus that’s a part of their health department. Create an alumni association website ! Bonus Tip: Staying in Touch.

More importantly, a local MBA allows for business leaders to engage with each other, establish personal and business relationships, and to build off each other’s experiences. I am a member of several groups, including the West Point Society of Kansas City and the Chapter 29 Special Forces Association.
