The 1 st tool was MySpace back in 2007. Did you experience resistance from higher ups in the organization initially utilizing about social media, or were they supportive? All nonprofits should also experiment with Twitter. Not everyone is a natural-born Twitterer, and it may take time to find the right person at your nonprofit to be the voice(s) behind your Twitter avatar, but it’s worth the investment of resources. There’s no shortage of niche networks out there to experiment with.

Last August, I saw the impact of Twitter's velocity first-hand with a fundraising experiment. I'm drawing from my experience using Twitter drawing and those of others. October 2007 This campaign was for $1,000 to send a young Cambodian woman, Leng Sopharath, to college. The experiment was to test Twitter's speed.

The organization is asking supporters to change their Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook avatars at 1:10 on Friday, March 6th to the "oneten" avatar. The campaign is trying to raise awareness that, "Each year, around 1 in 10 women in Britain experience rape, or other violence." For more information, go to www.oneten.org.uk.
